Interlude: Tram Sunday

In recent years the Fleetwood Festival of Transport or as it is better known “Tram Sunday”, keeps not happening, first due to Covid, last year was the weather and this year it was almost cancelled due to lack of funds and volunteers

Thanks to the new committee they put on the festival, and to make things simpler for myself I set up the local Urban Sketchers Group to meet up for Tram Sunday, we walked the length of the high street and sketched buses as the parade passed.

A painting of a flower seller stall with buildings behind it.

A quick watercolour sketch in my urban sketchers sketchbook.

And to follow some of my favourite images from the parade

man pushing a boat and people dressed as lighthouses
someone pushing a boat past as bus
riding the flatulation mobile

I have been thinking of my own ideas if I were to ever be in the parade, which I shouldn’t really be doing I should be working on paid work. Which I could get back to doing.

Oh hi there 👋
It’s nice to meet you.

    1. definitely fun to draw, you would think having grown up I would have taken part in the parade or something, but the only local Parade I have been in was in Blackpool on a float raising money for the ABC group (Autistic Blackpool Children) where we got filmed for Nickelodeon TV channel back in the 90s.

The hope is maybe next year we can get funding to do something for the day, but need to get through this funding first.
